Spit-shined

Today when I started to blog I thought wouldn't it be nice to know a little something about who's reading these posts? Blogging is sort of like the glass window where only the viewer can see suspects lined up and identified or arrested? Who's out there? Anyone volunteer to tell a little about yourself, what state you live in, what you read, how many children you have, you're favorite ice cream? Or better yet, the best book you've read lately.

I haven't read much these days, but I did see a sign this week that made me laugh but ponder the words. The sign read: "Mom, I'll always love you, but I'll never forget that you wiped my face with spit."

My mom used to do that to me when I was child, and I think if anyone watched the Republican convention they saw Sara Palin's daughter spitcleaning her baby brother's hair. The sign made me think of how often God has wiped my face clean with spit to make His child more presentable.

Have a blessed day.

  1. Hmmm... I'm a born and raised Georgia girl, lived in various towns, but always GA, spend some vacation and research time in South Carolina however, as that is where my ancestor's are from back until the 1500s. I read mostly historical fiction, it goes well with my genealogy addiction, but I also read a little bit of anything else that interests me. Be it Sci-fi, Fantasy, Speculative, Romance, or just contemporary. Contemporary is the one genre that it's taken a little grin and bear it to enjoy, but I'm getting there.

No children yet, but the prayers are being sent daily for that one. Favorite ice cream is chocolate. Most of the time the brand does not matter, just the fact that it's chocolate. Right now if I had to name a brand it'd be Mayfield Chocolate, or the new Breyer's Double Churned Extra Creamy Natural Chocolate. Although, usually I'm not a Breyer's fan.

The best book I've read lately... The Falcon and the Sparrow... or A Passion Most Pure... or A Passion Redeemed... or Twiced Loved... or Princess Ben.. I could go on forever, and those are just "lately".

  2. According to my husband, I'm a city girl since I grew up about 30 miles outside of Philly, but now I'm really a West Virginia farm girl living in the Appalachians. We don't have any kids yet and I work from home as an online English tutor and freelance editor (my degree is in publishing). I chose to work at home over a year ago because the 25 mile one way commute through back country roads to work at a just over minimum wage job wasn't really worth it anymore.

My passion in books is, without question, historical fiction. I also like to throw in an occasional chick lit book for an easy read. I consume books like food. =)

Best book I've read lately - Last night I started Nancy Moser's "Washington's Lady" and love the emotion conveyed through Martha. As far as a book I've finished recently, Deeanne Gist's "Deep in the Heart of Trouble" - Essie cracks me up!

Favorite ice cream - cookies and cream and anything that combines peanut butter and chocolate.

  3. I write historical inspirational romance. I've completed five manuscripts set in the heart of California's Gold Country where I live, two of which finaled in this year's Golden Heart.

I read historical inspirational romances as my first choice, Love Inspired contemporaries as my second. I'm currently reading Calico Canyon by Mary Connealy. My TBR pile has your names in it, since I heed the advice of reading the best my genre has to offer.

I have a blog, Romance Writers on the Journey, where I interview as-yet unpublished writers and debut authors and post an occasional article as well.

I'm the wife of my personal hero, mother to a bright seventeen-year-old daughter and have two shy, skittish cats who become orange blurs when the doorbell rings. I don't eat ice cream anymore, but I visit Taco Bell so often the staff knows my order by heart.
